3 Tasty Dishes You Can Make With Leftover Barbecue Sauce

BBQ Grilling

Whenever you have a backyard barbecue, it’s pretty common to have leftovers – extra sides, extra dessert, extra sauces and more. So what are you going to do with all of them? Don’t throw them in the trash! BBQ sauce, for instance, can be a useful ingredient to make delicious meals.

Here are a few dishes you can try if you have some extra BBQ sauce:

Barbecue Pulled Carrots

What you need:

  • 2 medium carrots, sliced into thin matchsticks
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup leftover barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 Mini bread rolls, halved

Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium high heat then cook onion and garlic until tender. Stir in the carrots and add the sauce. Bring to a light boil then lower heat. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes more or until carrots are softened. When carrots are soft, remove carrots from the pan, leaving as much sauce as you can. Leave the sauce in the heat until it thickens. To serve, sandwich the pulled carrots topped with a spoonful of sauce.

Easy Turkey Meatloaf

What you need:

  • 1 kilogram ground turkey
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups leftover barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a large bowl, mix together turkey, eggs, onion, garlic, 1 cup barbecue sauce, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well-combined. Place the mixture in a 9×5-inch loaf pan lined with heavy duty aluminium foil. Bake in a pre-heated oven (400F) for 30 minutes. Brush the top of the meatloaf with remaining barbecue sauce, lower the heat to 350F then bake for another 40 minutes. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Black Beans And Corn BBQ Pizza

What you need:

  • Prepared whole wheat whole pizza dough, stretched into 1 12-inch circle
  • 1 plum tomato, diced
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 1 cup black beans
  • 1 cup smoked mozzarella
  • 1/3 cup leftover barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal

In a small bowl, mix together tomato, corn and black beans. Sprinkle a large baking sheet with cornmeal then place pizza crust over it to coat the bottom. Cook crust on a pre-heated grill over medium high heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until lightly browned. Flip the crust. Brush with barbecue sauce, arrange corn mixture over it then sprinkle with cheese. Grill, covered, for another 4 to 5 minutes or until cheese has melted.

Try these amazing ways to use leftover barbecue sauce and you’ll be thankful you did!
